Ingredients

Bananas
We will be using our bananas to create the creamy icecream like texture for our popsicles, we’ve used two bananas for our recipe which is enough to make four servings.
Bananas are packed with nutrients that can provide numerous health benefits. They’re a good source of potassium, fiber, and vitamin C, and can help regulate blood sugar levels and promote gut health.
Peanut paste
We will be using peanut paste to coat the bananas to give them the nutty taste that we love. We’re using peanut paste as opposed to peanut butter because it’s more natural, but you can use choose to use peanut butter if you prefer.
Peanut paste is pretty healthy and provides a good source of protein and vitamins, while being low in sugar.
Vegan dark chocolate
We will be melting down our vegan dark chocolate and using it to coat our bananas to form the sweet outer layer of our popsicle and to give it that ‘snap’ sound and feel when you take your first bite.
Peanuts (optional topping)
You can choose to add peanuts to your popsicles, either whole (like we have) or you can ground them up using a mortar and pestle. We like them because they add more of a nutty flavor (not to mention extra protein), but it’s completely optional.
Flavor Ideas
If peanuts aren’t your thing why not consider adding
Desiccated coconut – why not try adding some dried desiccated coconut, the dried coconut flakes have a sweet, nutty flavor that pairs well with chocolate. Desiccated coconut can usually be found in the baking aisle of most grocery stores.
Hazelnuts – Use them chopped, or ground. Hazelnuts are a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, copper, and manganese.
Pistachio – Pistachios are not only delicious, but they are also packed with nutrients and contain antioxidants, fiber, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. One of the unique things about pistachios is their taste. They have a subtle, yet complex flavor that is both sweet and savory. Try them chopped or ground as a topping on your popsicle.
Raisins – Raisins can be a great way to add some natural sweetness to your popsicle, they’re also packed with vitamins and minerals, and are a good source of fiber and antioxidants.
Sea Salt – Sea salt and chocolate is a delicious and unique flavor combination. The saltiness of the sea salt enhances the sweetness of the chocolate and the two flavors compliment each other perfectly.
Sprinkles – Perhaps the least healthy of the topping options, but sprinkles can be a fun way to add some taste and color to your popsicle. Make sure to check the ingredients on the sprinkles, as some brands may use animals products as part of their coloring process.
Equipment
Wooden popsicle sticks or chopsticks – these will be inserted into the bananas so they can be held
Stovetop – this will be needed to heat up and melt the chocolate
Double Boiler or One Large Pot and One Small Pot
If you’re like us and don’t have a double boiler then you’ll need a larger pot and a smaller pot. The larger pot will be filled with water and brought to a boil and the smaller pot will contain the chocolate and placed into the larger pot, this way the chocolate can be melted using the heat from the boiled water and not with the heat directly from the stove.
Two Spoons – One to spread our peanut paste onto the banana and one to spread our melted chocolate onto the banana.
Freezer – this will be used to freeze the popsicles.
